Can You White Label ChatGPT? Options for Agencies

No. You cannot white label ChatGPT itself. It is OpenAI's product, and the name belongs to OpenAI.

Updated

No. You cannot white label ChatGPT itself. It is OpenAI’s product, and the name belongs to OpenAI.

What you can do is sell your own branded AI assistant that runs on a language model. Most people who search for “white label ChatGPT” want exactly that, and there are three ways to get it. Robofy is one of them and publishes this article, so we try to say where it fits and where it does not.

What OpenAI’s brand rules say

OpenAI publishes design guidelines for its marks. They say the names “OpenAI”, “ChatGPT” and “GPT” and the logos belong to OpenAI. They also say you must not misrepresent your relationship with the company, imply that it endorses you, or build its logo into your own branding.

So a white label product cannot be called ChatGPT or wear the OpenAI logo. Read the current guidelines and usage policies before you build, because they change. This is a plain summary, not legal advice.

Three routes

Custom GPT Build on an API White label platform
What it is An assistant set up inside ChatGPT Your own app that calls a model A finished platform you brand and resell
Branding Limited. It stays inside ChatGPT Yours, because you build the interface Your logo, colours and domain
Many clients Nothing built in You build it A panel for client accounts and limits
Website chat, WhatsApp Not what it is for You build each channel Included
Effort Low High: hosting, security, updates Low to medium: content and client care

Custom GPTs

A custom GPT is fine for a demo. You can show a prospect what an assistant trained on their FAQ could do in an afternoon. It is a poor product to sell, because the client uses it inside ChatGPT and not on their own website, under their own brand. Check OpenAI’s current plan terms for who can create and share one.

Building on an API

This gives you the most control and the most work. You pay the model provider for usage at its published rates, and you pay a developer to build and maintain everything else: the chat widget, storage, security, client accounts, billing. For one client with unusual needs, it can be worth it. For ten small clients it rarely is, since each one needs the same plumbing. Check OpenAI’s current prices before you budget.

A white label platform

You trade some control for speed. On Robofy you put your logo and a custom domain on the panel, create an agent for each client, set per-client limits for agents, training resources and message credits, and set your own prices. Your clients pay you. The reseller program page has the details.

Reseller plans are billed yearly: Accelerator is $799 for 10 client licenses, Growth $999 for 15, Pro $1,099 for 20 and Enterprise $1,199 for unlimited licenses. Usage runs on credits. An AI message uses about 60 of them, and extra credits cost $1 per 10,000. The reseller pricing page has the current numbers, and the pricing guide shows how to turn them into a client price.

You do not control the model. Robofy is built on Google Gemini and OpenAI models, and which one answers a request can change. Test your agents again after a major model update.

Risks

Do not call your product ChatGPT, and do not use OpenAI’s logo. That is the quickest way to breach the guidelines.

Models get replaced, so an agent that answered well in March may answer differently in September. Keep a short test list of questions and run it now and then.

Know where client data goes. Robofy says accounts are hosted in Europe (Ireland) and publishes a DPA and a sub-processors list. Whatever platform you choose, ask for the same.

And agree with the client what the assistant will not do. It answers from the content it is given. Set up a handover to a person for the questions it cannot answer.

When a platform fits

It fits when you want to sell AI to several clients under your own brand without building and running the software. It fits less well if you need a fully custom product with unusual integrations, where building on an API may be worth the effort, or if you only need a one-off demo.

If you are comparing platforms, the agency checklist lists what to ask each vendor. The guide to the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent explains what your clients can expect.

Frequently asked questions

You cannot rebrand ChatGPT itself, because the name and logo belong to OpenAI. Building your own branded product on language models is an ordinary business, as long as you follow the provider’s terms and do not use its marks to suggest endorsement. This is not legal advice.

Can I put my logo on ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT is OpenAI’s product, and its guidelines do not let you present it as your own or build its marks into your branding. Offer your own named assistant.

What is the difference between a custom GPT and a white label chatbot?

A custom GPT is an assistant set up inside ChatGPT, so it keeps OpenAI’s interface and accounts. A white label chatbot is a product with your brand that sits on a client’s website or WhatsApp and is managed from your own panel.

How much does it cost to build on the OpenAI API?

You pay for usage at OpenAI’s published rates, plus the cost of building and running your own product. Rates vary by model and change over time, so check them. The engineering and support hours often cost more than the usage.
